The prediction market platform Kalshi is demonstrating phenomenal growth rates that place it alongside the most dynamically developing projects in the crypto industry. My analysis of data over recent months shows: traffic from the U.S. has increased 16-fold year-over-year — from less than 1 million unique visitors in July of last year to 15.4 million in July of this year. Notably, the American audience now accounts for nearly 80% of the platform's entire user base.

Trading volumes hit records

However, the most impressive aspect is the dynamics of trading activity. While in August 2025 Kalshi's turnover was a modest $874 million, by this August it had reached a colossal $40 billion. That is growth of more than 45 times in a year — a figure rarely seen even in the most volatile digital asset markets.

The key driver of such explosive growth has been sports contracts, which accounted for 83% of the platform's total turnover in July. This trend is especially telling against the backdrop of Kalshi's ongoing legal disputes with regulators in individual U.S. states. Despite legal barriers, the platform is not only holding its ground but actively scaling, which speaks to high user confidence.

From my expert perspective, Kalshi's success reflects a broader trend: prediction markets are becoming a full-fledged tool for risk hedging and speculation, moving beyond a niche product. The 45-fold growth in volumes is not merely a statistical anomaly but a signal of a structural shift in trader behavior. The question remains whether competitors, including crypto platforms, can keep pace with this rate, or whether Kalshi will cement its status as the dominant player in this segment for the long term.
