The crypto industry is taking a significant step toward the global establishment. In partnership with the Global Blockchain Association (GBA), a new expert mechanism is being launched, designed to bridge legal practice, regulatory innovation, and the real needs of the digital economy. The public debut of this format will take place at the prestigious summit The Future of Money, Governance, and the Law (FoMGL), to be held from September 29 to October 2, 2026, in Washington and New York.

At the Intersection of Policy, Capital, and Technology

The GBA program promises to become the intellectual epicenter of discussions about the future of finance. The opening session on Capitol Hill with U.S. lawmakers will set the tone, while key debates will unfold at the National Press Club. The focus is on the impact of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and quantum computing on financial services, including digital assets, tokenization, and the formation of new regulatory frameworks.

Among the confirmed speakers are first-tier figures: Dino Cataldo Dell'Accio from the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund, Jarod Koopman from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS, Landon Zinda from the SEC Crypto Task Force, Thomas Puschak from the World Bank, as well as executives from Ripple, Circle, Coinbase, and Cardano. This is not just a conference but a rare opportunity to see regulators, lawmakers, and industry leaders at the same table.

GBA is an organization with an impressive reach: representatives from more than 500 government agencies worldwide and over 50 working groups. The Association has already developed the Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM)—a system for assessing the reliability and integrity of solutions, recognized at the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF). This lends the new Council particular weight: it is being created not in a vacuum but on the foundation of years of work in standardization and verification.

Launch of the Law and Regulation Council

The new expert council brings together practitioners with deep experience in cryptocurrency regulation, compliance, taxation, anti-money laundering, and institutional adoption. The key task is to help businesses navigate the complex landscape of jurisdictions, tax implications, and cross-border compliance. This is not about abstract theory but about concrete solutions for companies operating across different legal frameworks.

At the FoMGL summit, the Council will present its views on global policy. BeInCrypto's Global Head of News, Brian McGlynn, will moderate a panel on the state of global regulation. It is worth noting that the New York program at UN Headquarters will be free to attend, while a promo code BEINCRYPTO20 is available for the Washington portion, offering a 20% discount on tickets.

My analysis: The launch of such a Council is a marker of the industry's maturation. When representatives of regulators and market leaders gather on a UN platform, it is a signal that cryptocurrency has ceased to be a marginal topic and has become part of the global financial architecture. However, the key challenge will remain the same: can the dialogue transform into balanced laws that protect investors without stifling innovation? The answer to this question will determine the market's development trajectory for the next decade.
