Accumulation Strategy: Strategy increased its reserve to 846,842 BTC, while BitMine is expanding its Ethereum positions

Strategy 2025

Major corporate Bitcoin holder Strategy has once again reaffirmed its commitment to an aggressive accumulation strategy. Between June 8 and June 14, the company acquired 1,587 BTC for $100 million. The average purchase price was $63,024 per coin. This acquisition is another step in a large-scale program to increase its cryptocurrency reserve.

Deal Details and Strategy's Current Position

Following the completion of the deal, the company's total Bitcoin reserves reached an impressive 846,842 BTC. The current market value of this portfolio is estimated at $56.6 billion, representing approximately 4% of the total supply of the first cryptocurrency. To finance the purchase, Strategy used funds obtained from the sale of Class A shares worth $209 million. Under the current issuance program, the company still has the ability to place an additional $25.75 billion in shares, indicating significant potential for further acquisitions. Concurrently, the firm increased its dollar reserves from $1 billion to $1.1 billion.

Risk Analysis: A Change of Course?

However, not all experts view Strategy's actions unequivocally positively. Analysts at Sygnum Bank highlight potential risks associated with a change in strategy. Previously, the company stated it had no intention of selling Bitcoin, but now the possibility of using part of the reserves to secure debt payments is not ruled out. In their view, the value of Strategy's securities is now directly tied to the long-term dynamics of the first cryptocurrency. Moreover, the company recently disclosed the sale of 32 BTC — the first such minor realization in several years — which may also signal the beginning of more flexible portfolio management.

BitMine Bets on Ethereum

On another front of corporate accumulation, BitMine Immersion Technologies stands out. It has increased the volume of Ethereum in its reserves to 5.62 million ETH, representing 4.66% of the total market supply of the asset. The total value of BitMine's cryptocurrency assets and cash reached $10.4 billion. The firm actively uses staking: 4.7 million ETH are staked through its own MAVAN infrastructure, which is estimated to generate approximately $269 million in annual income. Additionally, BitMine announced the listing of its preferred shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BMNP, starting June 16. The proceeds of $273.8 million will be used to expand operations and further purchase cryptocurrency.

My professional commentary: The actions of Strategy and BitMine demonstrate two key trends: institutional Bitcoin accumulation is moving into a phase of more complex liquidity management, while altcoins like Ethereum are increasingly being used to generate passive income through staking. Strategy's sale of 32 BTC, though insignificant in volume, sends a signal to the market about a possible strategy adjustment, which could increase volatility in the short term.
