Institutions are buying the dip: Strategy increases bitcoin reserves, BitMine adds ether

While retail investors remain hesitant, major corporate players are actively increasing their positions in digital assets, using the current market correction for strategic accumulation. Two prominent examples are Strategy, which has increased its bitcoin holdings, and mining giant BitMine, which continues to aggressively buy Ethereum.

Strategy: Another tranche of 1,587 BTC

Between June 8 and June 14, Strategy acquired 1,587 bitcoins for approximately $100 million. The average purchase price was $63,024 per coin. Thus, the company's total bitcoin reserves reached 846,842 BTC, acquired for a total of $64.07 billion with an average entry price of $75,656.

Notably, the purchase was financed through the issuance of shares under the ATM (at-the-market) program. Simultaneously, the company increased its dollar reserve by $100 million to $1.1 billion. Currently, Strategy controls about 5.59% of the entire circulating supply of bitcoin, strengthening its status as the largest corporate holder of the leading cryptocurrency.

Against the backdrop of these actions, the price of BTC rebounded from the cycle's local low of $59,131 (June 5) and reached around $66,500 by June 15, showing a gain of more than 12% from the bottom. However, the asset is still trading approximately 47% below its all-time high of $126,200, set in October 2025.

BitMine: Alchemy of 5% of Ethereum's supply

In parallel, the largest corporate holder of Ethereum — BitMine — increased its position by 76,881 ETH over the past week. Total ether reserves reached 5.62 million coins, accounting for approximately 4.66% of the asset's total supply.

BitMine has already covered about 93% of the way toward its ambitious goal — the "alchemy of 5%," i.e., holding 5% of the total Ethereum supply. The company expects to achieve this milestone during 2026. Notably, more than 83% of its reserves (about 4.72 million ETH) are already staked, generating approximately $226 million in annual income. BitMine's total cryptocurrency and cash assets are now valued at $10.4 billion, including about $285 million in cash.

Cryptalist Analytics: Such actions by institutions at market bottoms are a classic signal for experienced participants. The accumulation strategy of Strategy and BitMine demonstrates confidence in the long-term potential of bitcoin and ether, despite current market uncertainty. However, retail investors should remember: the path to new all-time highs is rarely linear, and corrections are an integral part of any bull cycle.
