$60,000 as a local "bottom" for bitcoin: opinion of Coinbase CEO
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has suggested that Bitcoin may have formed a local bottom around the $60,000 mark. However, as the expert emphasizes, there is no 100% certainty in this — the market remains extremely volatile, and any forecasts come with a high degree of uncertainty.
Armstrong confirmed that he maintains a long position in the first cryptocurrency, viewing Bitcoin as "new digital gold." According to his assessment, by 2030, the asset could demonstrate significant price growth. The key driver of this movement is the historical four-year halving cycle, which traditionally puts pressure on coin supply and stimulates bullish trends.
It is worth noting that the current levels of $60,000–$65,000 indeed look like a consolidation zone after the recent correction. Nevertheless, I would not rush to call this level the final "bottom." The market is still influenced by macroeconomic factors, including regulation and the dynamics of Fed rates. However, Armstrong's long-term view of Bitcoin as a store of value is shared by many institutional investors.
My expert opinion: As long as Bitcoin holds above $58,000, the scenario with $60,000 as a local bottom remains likely. But for final confirmation, a consolidation above $68,000 with sustained volume will be required. The halving cycle should not be ignored, but relying solely on it is risky. The market has changed, and old patterns may not work.
