Anthropic's regulatory constraints will boost demand for decentralized AI — Grayscale analysis

ии-стартап Anthropic AI

The blocking of access to the latest AI models from the Anthropic lab by U.S. authorities has become a stark signal for the entire crypto community. Grayscale's Head of Research, Zach Pandl, rightly notes that this incident vividly demonstrates the vulnerabilities of centralized artificial intelligence systems.

On June 12, the U.S. government imposed a ban on the use of Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models for foreign nationals. In response, the company temporarily disabled these AI systems for all users. Pandl emphasizes that such decisions jeopardize access to a critically important economic resource—artificial intelligence.

"We expect growing demand for decentralized solutions like Bittensor. It's a kind of bitcoin in the world of artificial intelligence," the analyst stated. And indeed, Bittensor offers an alternative: access to computing power through an open global network without intermediaries. Just 12 hours after the news of Anthropic's restrictions, the native token TAO surged by 30%.

EdgeRunner AI co-founder Colton Malkerson adds that today, businesses "rent intelligence" from major labs, giving platform owners the right to restrict the service at any time without explanation. This creates unacceptable risks for companies dependent on AI.

My Expert Opinion

The decentralized AI market is on the verge of significant growth. Regulatory pressure on centralized labs is merely a catalyst. Investors will increasingly seek projects where control over algorithms and data remains in the hands of the community, rather than a narrow circle of officials or corporations. Bittensor and its counterparts are not just a trend but a fundamental shift in the architecture of artificial intelligence.
