Spot HYPE-ETFs have accumulated nearly $900 million in trading volume over the past month: what's behind the explosive growth

In just one month since listing, the total trading volume of spot HYPE-ETFs from 21Shares, Bitwise, and Grayscale has confidently approached the $900 million mark. Net capital inflows into these instruments amounted to $153 million — a figure that clearly signals high institutional interest in the Hyperliquid ecosystem.

One of the key demand drivers is Hyperliquid's unique economic model: approximately 97% of all platform trading fees are directed to a support fund. This creates an automatic mechanism for buying back HYPE tokens from the market — the higher the exchange activity, the stronger the buying pressure on the coin. In effect, the platform itself generates constant demand for its native asset.

All three ETF issuers provide HYPE staking with a current yield of around 2.25% per annum. At present, 434 million HYPE are locked in staking, representing 45% of the total available supply. This is a significant indicator of trust from holders who prefer to lock up their coins rather than bring them to market.

An additional catalyst for the ecosystem was an event seemingly unrelated to cryptocurrencies — the IPO of SpaceX. On the day Elon Musk's shares hit the exchange, the trading volume of the SPCX perpetual contract on Hyperliquid reached $1.4 billion. This instrument accounted for 30% of all activity in the HIP-3 segment, demonstrating that the platform is successfully attracting liquidity from traditional markets.

At the time of writing, HYPE is trading at $72.9, up 11.4% over the past 24 hours. The growth appears organic against the backdrop of fundamental factors, including the expansion of the product line and an increasing share of the derivatives market. Let me remind you that back in May, Hyperliquid's share of total perpetual futures turnover on CEX reached a record 6.63% — that's $200 billion out of $3 trillion.

My analysis: The growth of HYPE-ETFs is not just a speculative bubble but a reflection of a structural shift. Hyperliquid has created a closed loop: fees → token buybacks → staking → reduced liquid supply. Combined with a growing share of the derivatives market and integration with traditional assets like SpaceX, this forms a sustainable upward trend. However, investors should remember that at the current market capitalization, any disruption in the buyback mechanism or regulatory risk could trigger a sharp correction.
