The Ethereum Glamsterdam update enters its final phase: what will change for the network

The Ethereum network is entering a decisive stage of its development: the Glamsterdam upgrade has officially moved into its final development phase. Currently, all planned Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) are undergoing active testing before the launch of public testnets. Although the exact activation date has not yet been announced, the main launch is expected to take place in the second half of 2026.
In my assessment, this upgrade will be one of the most significant events for the Ethereum ecosystem since The Merge in 2022. Glamsterdam integrates three key components that will fundamentally change the network's architecture.
Key Changes in Glamsterdam
ePBS (EIP-7732) is a mechanism that takes the separation of validator roles to a new level. It allows the process of proposing blocks to be separated from their confirmation, significantly enhancing consensus efficiency and security. Block-level Access Lists (EIP-7928) optimize data handling, reducing node load and speeding up transaction processing. Additionally, the upgrade includes a comprehensive revision of operational costs, which should make gas fees more predictable and fair for users.
My professional assessment: Glamsterdam is not just another upgrade, but a strategic step toward scaling Ethereum without compromising decentralization. ePBS, in particular, addresses the long-standing issue of staking centralization, giving independent validators more flexibility. However, investors should consider that implementing such complex changes always carries risks, including potential delays and temporary network instabilities.
