China's superconducting quantum computer Origin Wukong now operates with an integrated post-quantum encryption (PQC) architecture. This is a significant step in the field of hybrid computing, where quantum systems are beginning to use cryptography resistant to attacks from both classical and quantum algorithms.

Key Features and Achievements

The 72-qubit computer is equipped with the built-in software module Origin Rock. This development from the Anhui Province Quantum Chip Laboratory ensures data transmission protection against "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks. According to the developers, the system has already completed over 1 million computing tasks in a secure mode. Since its public launch, Origin Wukong has been operational for more than two years, recording 49 million visits from users in 192 countries.

The implementation of the PQC framework is part of China's large-scale plan to create national post-quantum cryptography standards. Authorities intend to approve them within the next three years to protect critical infrastructure. This is particularly important as quantum computing rapidly progresses, making traditional encryption algorithms such as RSA and ECC vulnerable.
