The Ethereum Foundation's co-executive director departs: a new wave of personnel changes

Ethereum ETH Эфир 2025

Xiao-Wei Wang, Co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, has officially stepped down from her position and left the foundation's board. This decision was made after completing a sabbatical she took to reassess personal priorities. Wang emphasized that her departure is due to the need to focus on other life goals not directly related to managing the largest blockchain foundation.

Personnel changes at the Ethereum Foundation continue to gain momentum. Back in February of this year, Tomasz Stańczak also resigned from a similar position, which was a notable event for the community. In response to these changes, Bastian Aue was appointed as interim Co-Executive Director, who will likely play a key role in stabilizing the management structure.

Analytical perspective: Xiao-Wei Wang's departure is not just a change in leadership but a signal of deep transformations within the Ethereum Foundation. The foundation, traditionally associated with decentralized governance, now faces a challenge: how to maintain efficiency and strategic vision amid frequent changes of key figures. In my view, this could lead to an increased role for interim managers and a potential slowdown in decision-making on key network upgrades, including the long-awaited hard forks. Investors should closely monitor how the new leadership composition will affect Ethereum's roadmap in the coming quarters.
