Standard Chartered predicts a strong inflow of deposits into Aave amid asset tokenization.

The decentralized finance (DeFi) market is on the verge of a significant capital inflow, and the Aave protocol could become one of the main beneficiaries of this process. My analysis shows that the key growth driver will be the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), which will fundamentally change the liquidity structure in on-chain lending.

Tokenized assets, in my estimation, will begin to be actively used as collateral and a source of liquidity. This will fundamentally change the demand dynamics for deposits in Aave. The protocol, which is already a flagship in the DeFi lending segment, will receive a powerful impetus to restore its positions.

It is important to note that Aave is going through a difficult period after market pressure and the aftermath of the KelpDAO incident. However, it is precisely now, when the market is looking for new growth points, that asset tokenization could become the catalyst that returns the protocol to leadership. The growth in deposits is not just numbers; it is a signal of renewed trust from institutional players in DeFi infrastructure.

My expert assessment: I expect that in the next 12–18 months, Aave will be able not only to restore pre-crisis levels of total value locked (TVL) but also to surpass them due to the inflow of tokenized RWAs. This will be an important test for the entire DeFi ecosystem: can it integrate traditional financial instruments without losing decentralization and security.
