Standard Chartered forecasts strong growth in Aave deposits amid tokenization

The DeFi market is on the verge of a significant transformation, and one of the key players — the Aave protocol — could become the main beneficiary of this process. My analysis shows that the influx of tokenized real-world assets (RWA) into decentralized finance could fundamentally change the structure of Aave's deposits, restoring the platform's lost positions in on-chain lending.

Banking sector experts, particularly analyst Jeff Kendrick, note that tokenized assets will be increasingly used both as collateral and as a source of liquidity. This is logical: RWAs bring real value to DeFi, reducing volatility and increasing trust among institutional investors. For Aave, which has historically dominated the lending segment, this opens a window of opportunity for recovery after a period of market pressure.

However, recent upheavals should not be forgotten. The incident with KelpDAO dealt a tangible blow to the protocol's reputation, causing a temporary outflow of capital. Nevertheless, Aave's fundamental indicators remain strong: pool liquidity, liquidation mechanisms, and broad integration with other DeFi protocols create a solid foundation for growth.

My assessment: if the tokenization trend continues and the regulatory environment becomes more favorable, we could see not just a recovery, but a true explosion in Aave's deposits. The protocol has all the necessary tools to become the main hub for RWA lending. The market will certainly be watching developments closely, but even now it can be confidently said: Aave is entering a new phase of its development.
