Anthropic integrates an AI agent into Slack: Claude Tag becomes a full-fledged team member

The corporate AI solutions market is receiving a powerful new addition. Anthropic has officially introduced Claude Tag — a tool that turns the neural network into a full-fledged team member in Slack. Now, to assign a task, you simply need to mention the model via @Claude, and it will independently break down the assignment into stages, executing them in the background.

The key advantage of Claude Tag is its deep integration into workflows. The AI agent can connect to databases, analyze software code, and interact with third-party applications. At the same time, all channel participants can see the neural network's actions and continue a dialogue started by a colleague.

Four Pillars of Autonomy

The developers highlighted four fundamental features of Claude Tag that radically change the approach to teamwork:

  • Multi-user mode: the entire team observes the AI's work and can take over tasks at any moment;
  • Context accumulation: the neural network remembers discussion details and does not require repeated explanations — saving hours of work time;
  • Proactivity: in the background, the AI independently reports important updates and reminds about unresolved tasks;
  • Autonomy: the model can plan and execute long-term projects over several days without constant supervision.

Interestingly, within Anthropic itself, Claude Tag already generates 65% of all software code. Beyond development, the tool is actively used for analyzing metrics and processing support tickets. Administrators can flexibly configure the neural network's access to confidential data and set limits on token usage.

Currently, the service is available in beta testing mode for users of the Claude Enterprise and Team plans. Claude Tag is based on the Opus 4.8 model and replaces the standard Claude app for Slack.

My analysis: This move by Anthropic is not just another update, but a strategic breakthrough in the corporate segment. Integrating an AI agent directly into the communication environment where real work happens changes the very paradigm of human-neural network interaction. The fact that within the company the model already writes 65% of the code speaks to the technology's maturity — we are witnessing a transition from experimental chatbots to full-fledged production tools.
