Ethereum Reserve Analysis: SharpLink and BitMine Reveal Their Positions Amid Market Turbulence

An interesting trend has emerged in the Ethereum market: two major companies — SharpLink and BitMine — have published fresh data on their ETH reserves, shedding light on asset management strategies amid current volatility.
SharpLink: First replenishment in eight months
According to data from the analytical platform Lookonchain, a wallet linked to SharpLink received 5,000 ETH worth approximately $7.85 million from crypto broker FalconX for the first time in eight months. This signals a potential shift in the company's tactics, which previously adhered to a conservative approach to building positions.
Currently, SharpLink's total reserves amount to 876,285 ETH and equivalents in ETH derivatives. However, the unrealized loss on these positions is estimated at $1.71 billion. This figure indicates that the company acquired the asset at significantly higher prices than current market quotes, which is typical for long-term investors betting on a recovery in value.
BitMine: Large balance and corporate prospects
BitMine, for its part, reported 5.673 million ETH on its balance sheet, along with $601 million in cash and highly liquid securities. This makes the company one of the largest holders of Ethereum among public firms.
A key corporate event will be the inclusion of BitMine shares (ticker BMNR) in the Russell 1000 index after the close of trading on June 26. This will automatically attract the attention of institutional investors and passive funds tracking the index, which could put additional pressure on demand for the company's stock.
Analytical conclusion
The replenishment of SharpLink's reserves through FalconX amid a massive unrealized loss looks like a strategic move aimed at averaging the entry price. BitMine, meanwhile, demonstrates confidence in Ethereum's long-term potential by converting liquidity into digital assets. However, investors should consider that such large positions make companies vulnerable to sharp market movements — especially if the ETH correction continues. In my professional opinion, the current dynamics rather point to accumulation by major players, which historically precedes a trend reversal, but the exact time frame remains uncertain.
