Quantum Breakthrough in India: IBM Prepares 156-Qubit Heron System

The modern crypto industry is increasingly turning its attention to quantum computing, and IBM is taking a decisive step in this direction. The company has announced plans to launch the IBM Quantum System Two in Amaravati, India, equipped with a 156-qubit Heron processor. The machine is expected to begin operations as early as September this year.

First Step Toward the "Quantum Valley"

The installation will be one of IBM's first physical quantum systems deployed in India. This project is not just a technical demonstration but a key element of the large-scale "Quantum Valley" initiative in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The implementation became possible thanks to a tripartite agreement between the regional government, IBM, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

With 156 qubits, the Heron processor represents a significant leap forward compared to previous generations of quantum chips. For crypto analysts, this means the threat to classical encryption algorithms, particularly RSA and ECDSA, is becoming increasingly real. However, at this stage, it is more about scientific and commercial computing rather than breaking blockchains.
