Ripple has officially obtained the status of a full Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the European MiCA regulation. The license was issued by the Luxembourg Financial Sector Supervisory Commission (CSSF), granting Ripple access to the market of all 30 countries in the European Economic Area.
This event marks the logical conclusion of a two-stage process. Back in June 2026, the company announced preliminary regulatory approval, and now, after final authorization, Ripple can fully offer its regulated crypto payment products to financial institutions, corporations, and businesses across Europe.
What does the CASP license provide?
The CASP license fulfills all MiCA requirements necessary for Ripple's full operation in the region. As noted by Ripple's Managing Director for the UK and Europe, Cassie Craddock, the company now enters the post-transition era of MiCA fully compliant and ready for scaling. Financial institutions across Europe are actively seeking to develop digital asset services, and Ripple, with the necessary license, is prepared to meet this growing demand.
It is important to emphasize that, together with its existing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license in the EU, the CASP approval makes Ripple one of the few companies in the digital asset space with full dual authorization under MiCA. This complements the company's global portfolio, which already includes over 75 regulatory licenses worldwide.
Context and strategic significance
Ripple, founded in 2012, positions itself as a leading provider of blockchain-based solutions for traditional and digital finance. Its products cover global payments, custody, liquidity, and treasury management, with solutions based on the RLUSD stablecoin and the XRP cryptocurrency.
The license acquisition coincided with the arrival of a key MiCA deadline. After the transition period ends, companies without authorization lose the right to provide regulated services in the EU. Against this backdrop, full MiCA authorization not only solidifies Ripple's position in the European market but also creates a significant competitive advantage.
Cryptalist analytical commentary: This is a strategically important step for Ripple. Amid tightening regulation in the EU, holding a dual license (EMI + CASP) places the company in a privileged position compared to competitors who are just beginning the licensing process. Future developments will show how effectively Ripple can leverage this status to attract institutional clients in Europe. Personally, I expect an acceleration in the adoption of Ripple's solutions among European banks and fintech companies over the next 12-18 months.
