The quantum computing market continues to consolidate. Finnish developer of superconducting quantum systems, IQM Quantum Computers, has completed a deal to acquire part of the assets of the Berlin-based company Quantistry. This involves the purchase of software, algorithms, and intellectual property, as well as the transfer of key specialists from the German team.
A strategic move into applied chemistry and materials science
Quantistry specialized in creating software for modeling chemical processes and developing new materials. For IQM, this acquisition is not just an expansion of its technology portfolio. It is a direct entry into industrial clients who require quantum computing to solve real-world problems in chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and materials science.
Integrating Quantistry's algorithms into IQM's own platform will allow the company to offer ready-made quantum solutions to the market, rather than just "hardware." The company gains the ability to directly compete with giants such as IBM and Google in the segment of applied computing.
