According to our analysis of data from a large-scale survey of 4,625 IT leaders across 14 countries, the vast majority — 78% of Singaporean professionals — point to a critical shortage of infrastructure for working with real-time data. This directly hinders the adoption of AI solutions, especially in the segment of agentic AI, where rapid response to current business events is a key factor.
The numbers speak for themselves: 72% of companies in the region face three or more challenges when scaling AI initiatives. Key pain points include insufficient infrastructure for processing streaming data (72% — up from 61% in 2025), a chronic shortage of qualified AI talent (71%), and uncertainty regarding the quality and timeliness of information (66%).
Data Fragmentation and Project Stoppages
A particularly alarming signal is fragmented data ownership (65%) and the limited ability to seamlessly integrate new sources (64%). These factors have led to over 73% of Singaporean IT leaders already pausing their agentic AI projects. This figure is nearly identical to the broader Asia-Pacific level, where 74% of projects are frozen and 53% are completely shut down.
Paradoxically, despite this level of challenges, 86% of Singaporean leaders rank streaming data among their top investment priorities, alongside AI and machine learning. This indicates that the market recognizes the need for a fundamental restructuring of infrastructure but has yet to bridge the gap between ambitions and actual capabilities.
