The altcoin market has once again attracted the attention of major players. In recent days, on-chain metrics for Lighter (LIT) and Mantle (MNT) tokens have recorded a sharp surge in whale activity — the number of transactions exceeding $100,000 has reached its highest levels in the last six months. This is a signal that cannot be ignored.
Lighter: Tokenomics Takes Effect
According to data from the analytical service Santiment, the number of large LIT transfers amounted to 86 transactions — an absolute six-month high. The surge coincided with a powerful rally: on Monday, the LIT exchange rate soared by more than 20%, reaching the $2.6 mark — a high since January. Over the week, the increase amounted to approximately 37.9%.
The trigger for interest was an update to the project's tokenomics. Last month, Lighter implemented a burning mechanism that reduces the total supply, and also set a staking yield of 6% per annum from a pool of 250 million LIT. Additional momentum came from new partnerships and improvements to the perp DEX.
Mantle: Betting on RWA and Stablecoins
The Mantle network also set a record — 37 large transactions with MNT, each exceeding $100,000. Unlike Lighter, the driving force here is not a tokenomics update, but the growth of the real-world assets (RWA) segment.
According to the project's semi-annual report, the total value locked (TVL) in Mantle's DeFi sector exceeded a record $1 billion, of which $90 million came from RWA solutions. The network's stablecoin market capitalization reached an all-time high of $955 million, showing annual growth of 120%. The ecosystem currently supports 155 tokenized stocks and has a treasury of over $1.8 billion.
At the same time, the price of the MNT token itself remains under pressure from the global market: it fell by 2% over the day to $0.431, and by approximately 11% over the month. However, over the past week, a slight increase of 1.4% has been noted.
My view: Whale activity in both projects is not a coincidence. In the case of Lighter, we see a classic reaction to improvements in fundamental parameters. Mantle, on the other hand, demonstrates that the market is beginning to seriously assess the potential of tokenized real-world assets. The question is whether large holders will maintain their interest after the current correction. If on-chain activity continues to grow, this will be a strong bullish signal for both tokens.
