The altcoin market has once again caught the attention of major players. Analytical data records a sharp surge in "whale" activity on the Lighter (LIT) and Mantle (MNT) networks. The number of large transactions exceeding $100,000 has reached its highest levels in the last six months. This is a signal that cannot be ignored.
Lighter: Tokenomics Update as a Catalyst
In the Lighter network, 86 large transfers have been recorded in the recent period — an absolute record since the start of the year. This surge coincided with a dynamic rise in the token's price. On Monday, the LIT rate soared by more than 20%, reaching the $2.6 mark — a high since January. The weekly increase amounted to an impressive 37.9%.
The reason for the heightened interest is obvious. The project carried out a major tokenomics update: it introduced a burn mechanism that reduces the total supply of LIT, and launched a staking program with a 6% annual yield from a pool of 250 million tokens. Large holders clearly appreciated the new incentives, starting to actively accumulate positions. It was fundamental improvements, not just market conditions, that drove this wave.
Mantle: Betting on Real-World Assets
A no less indicative situation is unfolding around Mantle. Analytics recorded 37 transactions with MNT exceeding $100,000 — also a six-month high. Here, the driving force is the sector of tokenized real-world assets (RWA).
The Mantle ecosystem demonstrates impressive metrics. The total value locked (TVL) in the DeFi segment has exceeded $1 billion, of which $90 million comes from RWA solutions. The network's stablecoin market capitalization has updated its all-time high, reaching $955 million (annual growth of 120%). The platform currently supports 155 tokenized stocks and manages a treasury of over $1.8 billion. Large investors, apparently, are making a long-term bet on this segment.
However, despite whale activity, the price of MNT remains restrained so far: over the day, the token lost 2%, dropping to $0.431, although it showed a slight increase of 1.4% over the week.
Analytical conclusion from Cryptalist: We are observing a classic pattern: large holders are entering assets amid structural improvements in protocols, not just price fluctuations. For Lighter, this is an updated tokenomics with a deflationary mechanism; for Mantle, it is expansion into RWA. If the current trend continues, we may see a second wave of growth, but the overall market dynamics will be the key trigger. For now, whales are voting with their wallets — this is a strong bullish signal.
