The High-Tech Park (HTP) of Belarus has announced a large-scale update of the national crypto legislation. The focus is on legalizing a number of operations that previously remained outside the legal framework. These include copy trading, asset trust management, and, particularly interestingly, conducting airdrops.
According to information obtained during a press conference, Advisor to the Secretariat of the HTP Supervisory Board, Philipp Petkevich, confirmed that these areas are being actively developed. For now, it is at the discussion stage, and there are no approved implementation timelines. However, the very fact of considering such mechanisms indicates a serious intention by Belarus to move to a new level of interaction with digital assets.
New Horizons: From Copy Trading to Free Tokens
Among the discussed novelties are copy trading, which allows users to automatically copy the trades of successful traders, as well as cryptocurrency trust management services. A special place is occupied by airdrops—a mechanism for free token distribution, which is a key tool for attracting users to new projects. Legalizing these operations could radically change the landscape of the Belarusian crypto market, making it more attractive to retail investors.
Moreover, the law on crypto banks will come into force in the near future. This new entity will combine an HTP resident and a classic bank under the control of the National Bank. Such a hybrid model will allow certain individuals and legal entities to legally conduct foreign economic operations using cryptocurrency, which is a powerful incentive for business.
Infrastructure and Protection: A Balance of Interests
The HTP emphasizes that Belarus has already created a comprehensive infrastructure for the legal circulation of cryptocurrencies with separate regulations for legal entities and individuals. The key focus is on user protection: all HTP residents are required to warn clients about investment risks. At the same time, the state and law-abiding users are interested in expanding safe investment methods and minimizing fraud.
My comment: Belarus is consistently moving towards the status of one of the most progressive crypto hubs in the post-Soviet space. Legalizing airdrops and copy trading is not just a point change, but a signal to the market about the regulator's maturity. However, it should not be forgotten that these tools also carry high risks, especially under the sanctions pressure the country faces. Investors should exercise increased caution.
