The Russian mobile electronics market is undergoing a tectonic shift. Consumers are increasingly voting with their rubles for devices with integrated artificial intelligence. Over the past twelve months, the share of such gadgets in the retail network of one of the largest operators has grown from 6.5% to 16%. The total sales volume of AI smartphones jumped by 27%.

The key driver of this growth has been a radical expansion of the product range. The number of available models with neural networks has increased by almost 150%, directly stimulating consumer demand. However, it is important to note: the actual penetration of the technology is still low. Only 2.8% of Russians today actively use smartphones with full-fledged AI functions. The statistics only include those devices whose neural network functionality works stably on the territory of the Russian Federation. Models with blocked or inactive options were not taken into account.

Buyer Profile: Who Chooses 'Smart' Gadgets

Analysis of the buyer audience shows surprising uniformity. The gender distribution is almost balanced: 58% men and 42% women. However, the most active age cohort turned out to be users aged 37 to 47 — they account for 40% of all purchases. They are followed by young people aged 25-36 (22%) and a more mature audience aged 48-58 (21%).

Market Future: AI Goes Mainstream

Today, advanced neural network tools are the prerogative of premium flagships. But the situation will change dramatically in the next two to three years. Full-fledged AI functions will begin to massively penetrate the mid-budget segment. This is an inevitable stage of market evolution that we observe in all technological cycles.

The trend towards digitalization is confirmed at the state level. More than half of Russian enterprises are already implementing AI solutions, although industrial scale is still far off. In parallel, the State Duma has approved a framework law on AI regulation, and the government is actively integrating smart services into the work of the state apparatus. Even the Moscow Exchange is launching an AI system to identify manipulative trades.

My Expertise: The 27% growth is just the tip of the iceberg. The real boom will begin when AI functions become standard for devices costing up to 30,000 rubles. For crypto investors, this is a signal: keep an eye on companies producing chips for edge-AI and software for mobile neural networks. These are the sectors that will receive the maximum impetus from the mass adoption of the technology.
