The Russian banking sector is taking another step towards integrating digital assets. A major player — Alfa-Bank — has officially announced the launch of a service for international settlements in cryptocurrency for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs who are residents of the Russian Federation. The corresponding page has already appeared on the credit institution's website.
The new product is focused on foreign economic activity. The bank emphasizes that all operations are carried out in strict compliance with currency control legislation, including the norms of Federal Law No. 173-FZ and Instruction No. 181-I. This is an important signal for the market: regulatory risks, apparently, are minimized, and the scheme is legalized.
Terms and Fees
According to published information, the fee for a payment starts from 0.16%. This reduced rate is valid until August 31, 2026. After this date, the tariff will increase to 0.3% per transfer. The minimum and maximum transfer amounts are not limited, which opens up broad opportunities for both small businesses and large corporations.
The bank separately emphasizes speed: payment delivery takes about two minutes. The transfer route is stated as "transparent with a guarantee." The bank suggests contacting them directly for details of the terms.
Context and Background
It is worth noting that recently, information appeared in the press that some clients of "Alfa-Investments" allegedly gained access to cryptocurrency operations. It was reported that users could top up their account from a ruble account and execute trades in the broker's interface. However, the bank did not confirm this information, stating that such functionality was absent at the time of the conversation, although they did not rule out its appearance in the future.
Let me remind you that Alfa-Bank has been working with digital assets since 2025. It was one of the first to launch digital financial assets (DFAs) pegged to the exchange rate of bitcoin and ether on its own platform "A-Token."
My analysis: The launch of this service is a landmark event for the Russian market. Alfa-Bank is essentially creating a bridge between traditional fiat settlements and cryptocurrency for businesses, which is especially relevant under sanctions restrictions. If the scheme proves to be in demand and scalable, we could see an avalanche-like growth of similar offerings from other banks. The only question is how transparent and convenient the procedure itself will be for the end user.
