Just a week after the launch of the Robinhood Chain public network, trading volume on decentralized exchanges (DEX) within this ecosystem reached $563.9 million. This is an absolute record for an infrastructure initially positioned as a platform for tokenizing real-world assets (RWA). However, as practice has shown, the main driver of growth was not institutional tools, but classic meme culture.

On July 8, the network recorded 193,187 active addresses. The epicenter of activity was the Cash Cat (CASHCAT) token. The name is a direct reference to the original name of the Robinhood service, which, according to co-founder Vlad Tenev, was initially called CashCat. It is important to emphasize: the CASHCAT project has no official connection with either Robinhood or Tenev.

Tenev Fueled the Fire

The sharp rise of the token began after a public comment by Vlad Tenev, who wrote: "While we are building Robinhood Chain as the best network for tokenizing real-world assets, it is also well-suited for memecoins." This phrase became the catalyst. Cash Cat instantly updated its all-time high at $0.147, accumulating about $98 million in trading volume in a single day. The number of unique traders for the token exceeded 8,720 — the highest figure among all network assets.

Other Robinhood-themed memecoins, such as Dog In Hood and The Robinhood, also joined the movement, entering the top by volume. In the last 24 hours alone, 16,639 cryptocurrencies were created, and many of them have already exceeded a market capitalization of $1 million.

Correction and Prospects

However, the frenzy began to fade. By July 9, the price of Cash Cat corrected to $0.105, losing about 17% in a day. It remains unclear whether the memecoin can sustain its momentum after the initial wave of hype.

My analysis. Robinhood Chain, conceived as an infrastructure for RWA, turned out to be a hostage of speculative meme fever at its launch. This is reminiscent of the launch of many L2 networks, where initial volume is supported solely by retail trading. If the team does not offer sustainable incentives for real assets, the network risks remaining "just another arena for memecoins" rather than a serious platform for tokenization. Cash Cat is a striking but likely temporary phenomenon.
