The Robinhood Chain, a layer-2 network launched just a week ago, is already showing explosive growth. On July 8, trading volume on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) within this ecosystem reached an all-time high of $563.9 million. On the same day, the network recorded 193,187 active addresses. The main catalyst for this surge was the memecoin Cash Cat (CASHCAT), whose name references the original name of the Robinhood service itself.

It is important to emphasize: although Robinhood Chain is positioned as an infrastructure for tokenizing real-world assets (RWA), it is speculative memecoin trading that has been its driver from the very first days. According to data from the analytics platform Dune, 16,639 new tokens were created in the last 24 hours, and many of them have already exceeded a market capitalization of $1 million.

Cash Cat: The Driver of the Hype

The greatest hype has centered around Cash Cat. The cryptocurrency is inspired by the history of Robinhood's creation: the company's co-founder, Vlad Tenev, previously mentioned that the service was originally called CashCat. Although the Cash Cat project is not officially affiliated with either Robinhood or Tenev, its price surged sharply after the entrepreneur's comment was published.

Tenev noted: "While we are building Robinhood Chain as the best network for tokenizing real-world assets, it is also perfectly suited for memecoins." Following this statement, Cash Cat updated its all-time high, rising to $0.147. Within 24 hours, the token accumulated about $98 million in trading volume, and the number of unique traders reached 8,720 — more than any other assets on the network.

Active participants also included Robinhood-themed memecoins — Dog In Hood and The Robinhood — which entered the top of the most popular assets by trading volume.

Correction and Prospects

However, by July 9, the momentum slowed. The price of Cash Cat corrected to $0.105, losing about 17% in a day. It remains unclear whether the memecoin can maintain its upward trend after the initial wave of hype.

Expert commentary from Cryptalist: The record volumes on Robinhood Chain are a vivid example of how memecoins become "gateways" for new networks, attracting retail audiences faster than institutional RWA projects. However, history teaches us that a sharp rise is often followed by an equally sharp fall. Investors should exercise caution, especially given that the Cash Cat project has no official connection to Robinhood — it is a purely speculative asset whose value is sustained solely by hype.
