While Robinhood Chain was positioned as an infrastructure for tokenizing real-world assets (RWA), the market suddenly showed who the real boss is here. On July 8, the total volume of decentralized exchanges (DEX) on this L2 network built on Arbitrum soared to a record $563.9 million. The network was launched just a week earlier — on July 1 — and during that time managed to attract 193,187 active addresses.

The driver of this explosive growth was the memecoin Cash Cat (CASHCAT). Its name is a direct reference to the original name of the Robinhood service, which was initially called CashCat. The token's creators clearly played on nostalgia and associative connections, which ensured a powerful influx of liquidity.

The key catalyst for the growth was a comment from Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev. He stated that, although the network is being built for RWA, it is also perfectly suited for memecoins. This statement was enough for CASHCAT to update its all-time high at $0.147. Within a day, the token accumulated a trading volume of about $98 million, and the number of unique traders exceeded 8,720 — more than any other asset on the network.

Hype, Correction, and Market Reality

By July 9, the euphoria began to subside. The price of CASHCAT corrected to $0.105, losing about 17% in a day. Other Robinhood-themed memecoins — Dog In Hood and The Robinhood — also entered the orbit of the frenzy, ranking among the top in trading volume.

It is important to emphasize that the Cash Cat project has no official affiliation with either Robinhood or Tenev himself. This is a purely speculative meme that uses the name of a well-known brand to attract attention. Over the past day, 16,639 new tokens were created on the network, many of which have already exceeded a market capitalization of $1 million.

My analysis: The Cash Cat story is a classic example of how even serious L2 infrastructure instantly turns into an arena for meme trading at the slightest hint of a viral narrative. Whether Robinhood Chain can maintain this momentum and grow into a full-fledged RWA ecosystem, or whether it will remain a "network for memecoins with a name," time will tell. But the first days of its existence clearly demonstrate where real liquidity lies today.
