Blockchain security company SlowMist has taken a significant step in combating cryptocurrency crime by integrating the AI agent TrackAgent into its free stolen asset assessment service. This solution fundamentally changes the approach to incident investigation, where stolen funds can be moved through dozens of wallets in a matter of minutes.
TrackAgent is not just a tool for extracting data from the blockchain. It is a full-fledged on-chain detective that builds routes for fund movements in a specific case. The user provides the system with initial data: the victim's address, the attacker's address, the transaction hash, the type and amount of stolen assets, and the time of the incident. The agent then checks the origin of the stolen funds and tracks them step by step across the blockchain.
When digital assets pass through exchanges, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), cross-chain bridges, mixers, or aggregator addresses, TrackAgent identifies these key nodes. Even if tokens are exchanged, split into multiple transactions, or recombined, the system continues to monitor the flows without stopping at a single operation. This makes it possible to identify complex money laundering schemes and restore the key flow of funds.
Multi-layered Reconnaissance and Automatic Correlation
The system uses multi-layered reconnaissance, combining on-chain labels, indicators of compromise, and proprietary threat data. This allows for quickly determining whether the theft is linked to a drainer, a fake wallet, a pig butchering scheme, or, for example, the Lazarus hacking group.
One of the key features is the automatic correlation of funds across multiple attacker addresses. Instead of analyzing each wallet individually, the agent builds a unified flow graph, identifying common collection points, withdrawal routes, and the laundering infrastructure used. This significantly speeds up investigations and allows analysts to focus on complex cases.
Scale and Industry Significance
TrackAgent supports 31 blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, TRON, and the EVM ecosystem with layer-2 (L2) solutions. This covers the most common theft scenarios: from Bitcoin UTXO model transactions to stablecoin transfers on TRON and asset movements in EVM networks.
SlowMist launched its first stolen asset tracking service back in March 2021, and since November 2022, it has been accepting online applications from victims. Over four years, the company has processed more than 12,000 requests. The integration of TrackAgent shifts the service from point queries to AI agent-driven investigations. Preliminary analysis, which previously required significant manual effort, is now performed faster, allowing experienced analysts to focus on verification and complex cases.
However, it is important to understand that the technology is not a panacea. Blockchain tracking provides valuable signals and evidence, but the final outcome depends on the ultimate location of the digital assets, the willingness of platforms to respond, the policies of stablecoin issuers, and applicable legal procedures.
My professional opinion: The introduction of an AI agent into crypto theft investigation processes is a logical and timely step. Manual transaction analysis across 31 blockchains has long been a bottleneck. TrackAgent not only accelerates work but also standardizes investigation methodologies. However, the effectiveness of this system will directly depend on how quickly and actively exchanges and stablecoin issuers respond to AI-generated requests. Without their participation, even the most powerful tool will remain merely a theoretical model.
