The cryptocurrency market is sending clear signals of a shift in sentiment. CoinGlass's "Altcoin Season" index has firmly settled at 58, significantly above the neutral zone. Although there is still a long way to go before the official start of altcoin season (the traditional threshold of 75 points), the current dynamics indicate a gradual but steady redistribution of capital from Bitcoin to a broader range of digital assets.
Index Rises, but BTC Holds Its Ground for Now
After a sharp jump to 64 points on June 4, the index corrected but remained at elevated levels. This suggests that investors are beginning to look at alternative coins. However, Bitcoin's dominance still stands at around 57%, according to CoinGecko. This means that BTC is not yet losing ground, but its hegemony no longer seems unshakable.
It is important to understand that different platforms use different calculation methods. For example, the CoinMarketCap index shows a more restrained picture — around 53 points. Nevertheless, the overall trend is clear: interest in altcoins is growing.
Structural Shifts: BTC Dominance Declines, Alts Gain Weight
My observations are confirmed by data from CryptoRank: Bitcoin's market share has decreased from 58.12% to approximately 56.3% over the past few weeks. Meanwhile, the share of altcoins (excluding Ethereum and stablecoins) has risen from 19.39% to 24.68%. This is not just a speculative spike, but a structural change.
The trend in institutional flows is particularly telling. In mid-June, capital began to move out of Bitcoin ETFs and flow into products based on Ether, Solana, and XRP. This is a classic sign of the start of an altcoin accumulation phase by large players. However, it is worth noting that Glassnode analysts warn: the current driver is not so much the strength of alts, but a correction in Bitcoin.
The market is still showing selective rotation rather than mass euphoria. Capital is concentrating in tokens with high yields and the Solana ecosystem, while smaller projects face selling pressure.
My conclusion: The rise of the CoinGlass index to 58 is not the final point, but a harbinger. Further movement towards the 75 mark will directly depend on whether BTC dominance can fall below 55% by the end of July. If this happens, we will witness a full-fledged "Altseason" that many have been waiting for all year. For now, we are in a zone of heightened interest, but not in a zone of unconditional triumph for altcoins.
