Spot Bitcoin ETFs have finally shown a weekly capital inflow, breaking a prolonged streak of outflows that lasted eight consecutive weeks. From July 6 to July 10, the total net flows into these funds amounted to $197.4 million. This event marks a significant shift in sentiment among institutional investors, who had been consistently withdrawing funds from instruments focused on the leading cryptocurrency for two months.

Scale of Previous Losses

The eight-week outflow period, which began the week of May 11–15, resulted in total losses of approximately $8.26 billion. The heaviest weeks were June 22–26 (outflow of $1.79 billion) and June 1–5 (outflow of $1.72 billion). This capital outflow coincided with a noticeable decline in Bitcoin's price: by the close of trading on July 10, the asset was trading around $63,917, significantly lower than levels seen in late spring. Despite the return of inflows, the total net assets of the funds ($77.42 billion) are still below their peak values recorded earlier this year.

Dynamics of Altcoin ETFs

The picture for other cryptocurrency ETFs over the same week was mixed. Ethereum led among altcoins: ETFs on ETH attracted $84.42 million, making it the second-largest recipient of capital after Bitcoin. Significantly more modest inflows were seen in funds for Solana ($930.43 thousand), Chainlink ($639.94 thousand), Hedera ($1.01 million), and Hyperliquid ($10.36 million). At the same time, some funds recorded outflows: ETFs on XRP lost $7.18 thousand, and those on Litecoin lost $429.94 thousand.

Thus, the bulk of capital continues to concentrate in Bitcoin and Ethereum funds, indicating the dominance of these assets in institutional strategies.

Analytical Commentary from Cryptalist: A reversal after eight weeks of outflows is certainly a positive signal, but I would not rush to call it the start of a sustained bullish trend. The inflow volume is still modest compared to the preceding losses. This is more of a cautious improvement in sentiment rather than a confident return of capital. The key factor for confirming a trend change will be the funds' ability to maintain positive flows over the next few weeks, especially amid BTC price volatility.
