Last week, from July 6 to July 12, Strategy executed a major transaction: selling 4.82 million MSTR shares for $466.7 million. This information was disclosed in an 8-K form filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Notably, the entire proceeds were not used to replenish the Bitcoin reserve. Instead, the company's dollar position increased by $450 million, reaching the $3 billion mark. The Bitcoin balance remained unchanged at 843,775 BTC, acquired at an average price of $75,476 per coin.
Such behavior raises questions about Strategy's short-term plans. Typically, the company actively converts raised capital into digital assets, but here we see an accumulation of a fiat reserve. This could indicate a wait-and-see stance ahead of a possible decline in the price of the first cryptocurrency, or preparation for a major acquisition outside the public market.
From my perspective, this pause is not a sign of weakening faith in Bitcoin, but rather a tactical maneuver. Given the current market volatility, Strategy may be keeping $3 billion ready to enter a position at a more attractive price. However, investors should monitor the next reports: if the pause drags on, it could signal a change in strategy.
