Analysis of the $297 million cryptocurrency transfer: US authorities moved assets to Coinbase Prime

USA США

According to monitoring by the blockchain platform Arkham, wallets associated with the U.S. government have made a large transfer to the Coinbase Prime exchange. This transaction moved 3,940 BTC and 30,014 ETH, with a total value estimated at approximately $297 million at the time of the transfer. These digital assets were seized during several criminal investigations.

It is important to emphasize that such a transfer to a centralized platform like Coinbase Prime is not an automatic signal of an imminent sale. Often, such steps are taken for purposes of storage, liquidity management, or preparation for future decisions, including auctions or asset transfers. Previously, analysts estimated the total volume of crypto assets controlled by U.S. authorities at $20.6 billion. This portfolio includes significant reserves: 325,000 BTC, 28,000 ETH, 146 million USDT, and 750 WBTC.

Expert comment: From my perspective, this transfer is more of a technical maneuver than a prelude to a mass sell-off. The U.S. government has historically acted cautiously when liquidating seized assets, often using auctions or structured sales to minimize market impact. Without official statements regarding intentions, the market should not panic. However, the movement of these funds should be closely monitored, as any large transfer to an exchange tends to increase volatility.
