The cryptocurrency market is entering a phase of maturity, where speculative assets without real value are giving way to projects with a solid fundamental foundation. This trend is most evident in the growth of financial protocols, with Hyperliquid (HYPE) leading the way. Investors are increasingly voting with their dollars for projects that generate real cash flow, rather than for promises of "the moon."

My analysis confirms that since the beginning of 2024, the Financials sector has shown steady growth of approximately +15%. At the same time, the Consumer and Culture category, dominated by memecoins, has collapsed by nearly 75%. The gap in performance between these sectors has reached almost 90 percentage points — a colossal difference that clearly illustrates the shift in priorities.

Why Hyperliquid (HYPE) is in the spotlight

Hyperliquid is a decentralized exchange that has implemented a unique economic model. Transaction fees are directed into a special fund, which is then used to buy back the HYPE token from the market. This scheme directly ties the coin's price to the real activity and popularity of the platform itself. This is not just a "meme" asset, but a full-fledged business with measurable profitability.

The results speak for themselves: the HYPE token has risen from an all-time low of around $3.81 at the end of 2024 to a peak of $76.70 in June 2025. Since the start of this year, the asset has gained about 29% and has firmly entered the top ten cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. This is clear evidence that the market rewards real value.

This logic also finds support among major institutional players. For example, Tushar Jain, managing partner at Multicoin Capital, directly states that leading protocols such as Hyperliquid and Solana should be valued like traditional companies generating cash flow. This is what forms their long-term value.

Currently, several other platforms have also begun to follow this model, burning tokens using the revenue they generate. However, maintaining leadership will directly depend on these projects' ability to sustain steady income. In my opinion, we are witnessing a monumental shift: the industry is leaving pure speculation in the past and betting on fundamental economics.

Expert opinion: The transition from a "meme" economy to an economy of real value is a sign of market maturation. Hyperliquid demonstrates that sound tokenomics tied to real business activity can create sustainable demand. However, investors should remember that even the best fundamentals do not guarantee the absence of volatility. The key question now is whether other financial protocols can replicate Hyperliquid's success, or whether the market will consolidate around a single leader.
