The digital asset market met July 15 with mixed signals, but with a clear predominance of positive sentiment. While Bitcoin and Ethereum show sideways dynamics, key events are unfolding at the intersection of geopolitics, institutional adoption, and technological integrations. We break down the most important morning news.

Price Picture: Bitcoin and Ethereum in a Sideways Trend

Top Crypto Morning News for July 15

The U.S. Treasury froze $131 million in USDT on wallets linked to Iran. This concerns four addresses on the Tron network, which, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, are controlled by the Central Bank of Iran. Tether complied with the asset freeze request. This coincided with another round of escalation in the Middle East conflict: the U.S. resumed the blockade of Iranian ports and announced a new wave of military strikes. Bessent emphasized that the department will continue to strictly track financial flows, depriving the Iranian regime of revenue from illegal schemes.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies reported $45.7 million in revenue from Ethereum staking. The company launched an institutional staking platform back in March, and already for the quarter ending May 31, 98% of all revenue came from this segment. For comparison, its own Bitcoin mining brought in only $624,000, and consulting $168,000. By July 13, 2026, Bitmine had already staked 85% of its ETH holdings — about 4.9 million tokens. This is a clear example of how traditional mining companies are pivoting to more profitable and energy-efficient models.

OpenAI has begun integrating data from Kalshi prediction markets into ChatGPT. As it became known, search results now display quotes from the Kalshi platform for World Cup matches. The data is presented in the form of charts showing each team's chances of winning. There has been no official announcement of the partnership yet, but this is the first known case of OpenAI collaborating with a prediction market platform. The integration could be an important step towards legitimizing and popularizing such services among a mass audience.

My view: The freezing of Iranian USDT is another signal that stablecoins, despite their decentralized nature, are not a "gray area" for regulators. Tether has once again confirmed its willingness to cooperate with U.S. authorities. As for Bitmine, their case is clear proof that Ethereum staking is becoming one of the most marginal models in the industry, especially for institutional players.
