Amid the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the head of the British financial regulator insists on the need for collective testing of the most advanced AI models before their commercial deployment. This is not just about recommendations, but about an urgent need to consolidate efforts to minimize systemic risks.

Why are individual actions useless?

Bailey emphasizes the critical vulnerability of modern financial and technological ecosystems. In his view, even the United States, with its enormous resources, is unable to ensure reliable cybersecurity on its own. The reason lies in the unprecedented degree of interconnectedness of global systems. An attack exploiting a vulnerability in an AI model developed in one country could instantly paralyze critical infrastructure on the other side of the world, including digital asset markets and traditional banking networks.

This statement is a direct hint that national approaches to AI regulation, which are currently being actively shaped in the EU, the US, and Asia, may prove ineffective. Without unified testing standards and "sandboxes" for verifying algorithms, we risk facing cascading failures that were previously the prerogative of only theoretical scenarios.

For the crypto industry, this is a signal of particular importance. Many decentralized protocols and DeFi platforms are already actively integrating AI agents to automate trading and risk management. If a global regulatory consensus is not reached, it is the crypto sector, as the most innovative and least protected part of the financial system, that could become the first "laboratory" for testing destructive AI attacks. Bailey is right: the time for isolated solutions has passed.
