Markets no longer want to wait. Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) has announced the launch of a paid service, Truth API, which starting August 1 will provide major banks and hedge funds with direct access to posts from Donald Trump and other key accounts on the platform. This is not just a news feed—it is a tool capable of providing seconds of advantage in the race for billions.
Speed is everything: how Trump's posts move markets
We have already seen how a single statement from Trump can upend global markets. On April 9, 2025, when he announced a 90-day pause on new tariffs, U.S. indices soared within minutes. Truth API is an attempt to capitalize on this volatility, transforming a social network into a premium source of market data.
The service will cover the 10 most influential Truth Social accounts, including Trump himself, his sons Donald Jr. and Eric, as well as allies like Dan Bongino and Sean Hannity. The archive of posts will be available from 2022. As TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGern stated, the tool is primarily intended for companies that face the greatest risks due to delays in receiving information.
Ethical dilemma: conflict of interest or new reality?
Donald Trump's family trust owns about 41% of TMTG shares, with asset management handled by his relatives. This creates an unprecedented situation: the content creator directly influences stock prices through his own platform, and now he is also selling access to that influence.
Democratic Senator Ron Wyden, chairman of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, has already criticized the API launch, calling it a tool for enriching the Trump family and "other Wall Street traders." However, as Dynamis law firm partner Robert Frenchman notes, different speeds of access to information do not violate federal securities laws. At the same time, he acknowledges that this approach widens the gap between large and small players.
"It looks unfair, but yes, the platform has the right to distribute information in its own way without violating federal securities laws," Frenchman concludes.
TMTG also stated that a number of unnamed organizations have been illegally collecting Truth Social data for months, violating terms of service. Earlier, the company had already denied rumors about monetizing the platform, including the launch of a memecoin.
Expert opinion: Truth API is a logical but dangerous step. We are entering an era where the speed of access to the leader's "first word" becomes a commodity. For the cryptocurrency market, which already experiences high volatility, such tools could act as a catalyst for even more aggressive movements. The question is not whether it is legal, but how far we are willing to go in monetizing political power.
