Markets are driven by information, and when that information comes from the President of the United States, the speed of obtaining it literally becomes a matter of millions of dollars. Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) has officially announced the launch of a paid service, Truth API, which will provide major banks and hedge funds with direct, near-instantaneous access to posts by Donald Trump and other top Truth Social accounts. The launch is scheduled for August 1, and according to management, initial clients are already secured.

TMTG's decision is a direct response to market reality, where every word from Trump can reshape charts. One need only recall April 9, 2025, when his statement about a 90-day pause on new tariffs triggered a sharp rise in U.S. indices within minutes. Or his earlier posts about "Liberation Day" and the trade war with China, which systematically created powerful price impulses.

The new API will cover the 10 most influential accounts on the platform, including Donald Trump himself, his sons — Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump — as well as key allies such as Dan Bongino and Sean Hannity. The service will also provide a full archive of posts dating back to 2022.

TMTG's interim CEO, Kevin McGern, stated outright that the tool is primarily intended for companies bearing the greatest risks due to delays in receiving information. Essentially, it is an attempt to formalize and monetize what was previously an ad hoc advantage for those who could read a post the fastest.

Conflict of Interest and Ethical Dilemma

Clearly, a serious conflict of interest arises here. Donald Trump's family trust owns about 41% of TMTG shares, and asset management is handled by his closest relatives. Thus, the platform's creator directly and, importantly, profitably controls a tool that influences market quotes.

Democratic Senator Ron Wyden, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, has already sharply criticized the launch of the service. He called it another manifestation of the "Trump family's greed," which, he claims, will now profit alongside "other Wall Street traders," creating unequal conditions for retail investors.

However, as noted by Robert Frenchman, a partner at the law firm Dynamis, different speeds of access to information do not violate federal securities laws. According to him, the platform has every right to distribute information as it sees fit.

"It looks unfair, but yes, the platform is entitled to distribute information as it sees fit without violating federal securities laws," Frenchman said.

Notably, TMTG had previously denied rumors about monetizing Truth Social, including the launch of a memecoin. Now, the company has taken a step that, on one hand, legalizes existing practices, and on the other, sets a precedent that deepens the gap between large institutional and retail players.

Expert Opinion: The launch of Truth API is a brilliant, albeit cynical, business move. TMTG is not just selling data; it is selling a temporal advantage that directly converts into money on Wall Street. For the crypto market, where Trump's influence is also palpable, this is an important signal: the era when all participants received information simultaneously is fading. Now, the speed of access to the "first word" becomes a separate asset class.
