The market for digital financial assets (DFAs) in Russia continues its progressive movement toward the real sector. Rubrik-OD, a well-known manufacturer of children's construction sets, has taken a landmark step by placing its first DFA issue worth over 100 million rubles. This is not just corporate news, but an important indicator of the instrument's maturity.
Settlement for the issue was completed on July 16 on the DFA Hub platform. Sovcombank acted as the placement organizer, which in itself underscores the growing interest of traditional financial institutions in this segment. The bank rightly notes that DFAs are ceasing to be the prerogative of exclusively large corporations and are becoming an accessible mechanism for medium-sized companies.
Strategic Move and Asset Integration
This step fits organically into Rubrik's development strategy. Earlier, in early June, company head Abdrakhmanov announced the acquisition of 100% of the game developer Devgame. This refers to a studio creating mobile and browser-based projects for children and family audiences. Although the deal amount is not disclosed, it is clear that the purchase paves the way for integrating gaming solutions into a broader childhood ecosystem. The funds raised through DFAs will likely go toward financing this and other initiatives.
Why This Matters for the Entire Market
From my perspective, this case is much more than just news about another placement. It demonstrates that DFAs are gradually moving beyond the "sandbox" for the largest players. The accessibility of the instrument for medium-sized companies radically expands the very practice of its application.
For the Russian economy, this means the formation of a full-fledged alternative to classic debt instruments. Digital assets give businesses a new degree of freedom in financing projects, lowering the entry threshold and bureaucratic burden. Each new placement like this strengthens the infrastructure and makes the mechanism familiar to both issuers and investors.
My analysis: We are witnessing the beginning of the second stage of the DFA market evolution in Russia. If the first stage was dedicated to testing the technology and attracting "anchor" issuers, we are now entering a scaling phase. Rubrik-OD is a telling example of how the non-financial sector uses digital assets to solve specific business problems. The trend is obvious: in the next 12-18 months, we will see an avalanche-like growth of such placements by medium-sized businesses, which will radically change the landscape of corporate financing in the country.
