Wall Street on Fire: The Titan Race for the Bitcoin Index Heats Up to the Limit
The institutional Bitcoin adoption market is experiencing a moment of truth. According to fresh data, leading Wall Street banks — Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and Citi — have entered a fierce battle for the second position in the Bitcoin Banking Adoption Index ranking. The gap between them is just three points, indicating an incredibly tight competition.
However, the undisputed leader of the list remains Fidelity with a score of 71%. The company established a specialized division, Fidelity Digital Assets, back in 2018, giving it a colossal time advantage. For comparison, the average score across all 25 largest financial institutions, evaluated based on spot trading, custodial services, and crypto product offerings, is only 32%.
Battle for Second Place: Goldman, JPMorgan, and Others
Goldman Sachs sits in third place with a score of 45%, while JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Citigroup each scored 43%, trailing by just two points. The quarterly reports of these giants clearly demonstrate that their trading divisions are already actively profiting from the crypto industry. Moreover, over 15 banks are currently competing to migrate traditional instruments to the blockchain, bypassing Bitcoin. This asset tokenization strategy could radically change the balance of power in the ranking.
Vanguard's position looks particularly contrasting, as it has only recently begun forming its crypto strategy, while Fidelity has been deeply cultivating this area for years. Regional banks are still just exploring digital assets.
New Initiatives and Forecasts
Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and Citi plan to launch a series of new cryptocurrency initiatives by the end of the year. New exchange-traded instruments, expanded storage services, and tokenization platforms are under development. As analysts note, bringing these products to market will bring much more transparency to the entire sector.
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) remains the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin and is directly interested in the development of this trend. Michael Saylor consistently promotes the integration of the first cryptocurrency into the corporate sector, counting on further acceleration of banking activity.
Expert Commentary: The race for the index is not just a competition of numbers. It is a marker that Bitcoin has finally moved from the category of speculative assets to the class of institutional instruments. Banks that hesitate risk forever remaining in the role of followers. The current density of results is merely a prelude to even tougher competition in 2024-2025.
