The market for cryptocurrency payment solutions continues to consolidate. This time, MoonPay, one of the leading fiat on-ramps, has announced the acquisition of Glide, a provider of infrastructure for crypto deposits. The deal amount is undisclosed, but the move is clearly strategic.
Glide's technology will be integrated into the MoonPay Deposits product. This solution allows apps and platforms to accept crypto assets directly from any wallets, exchanges, and blockchains, automatically handling swaps and cross-chain transfers via bridges. Essentially, Glide removes one of the main barriers to mass adoption — the complexity of depositing funds from external ecosystems.
Glide's team and client base are moving under MoonPay's wing. This means MoonPay Deposits users will gain access to a broader network of supported assets and networks without the need to manually configure each bridge. For cryptocurrency holders, this simplifies the process of making deposits on trading platforms, DeFi protocols, and NFT marketplaces.
From my perspective, this move is not just a technology purchase but a signal to the market. MoonPay is clearly aiming to become a universal layer for capital movement between fiat and crypto, and now — between crypto assets themselves. Glide gives them the missing puzzle piece: automatic transaction routing through bridges, which is critical for a multi-chain world.
I expect that in the coming quarters, MoonPay will increase pressure on competitors in the B2B infrastructure segment, offering developers a ready-made "engine" for accepting deposits without the headache of network compatibility. For users, this means fewer fees and less waiting time for cross-chain operations.
