Quantinuum and Oracle form a hybrid alliance: quantum computing meets AI

The quantum technology market is taking another step toward practical implementation. Quantinuum and Oracle Corporation have announced a strategic partnership in which the Helios quantum system will be integrated into the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) cloud platform. This is not just a technical update — it is an attempt to make quantum computing accessible to the mass corporate sector.
What Helios is
Helios is a third-generation system built on 98 physical qubits. It is based on trapped-ion technology, which is considered one of the most stable and accurate in the industry. The stated operation accuracy exceeds 99.9%, which is critical for complex algorithms. At the same time, the installation's energy consumption is less than 1% of what modern supercomputers require. This makes it not only powerful but also cost-effective.
Focus on hybrid computing
The main goal of the partners is to develop hybrid computing, where classical AI models work in conjunction with quantum processors. This synergy opens new horizons in materials science, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and financial modeling. For example, simulating molecular structures to create new drugs requires enormous computational resources that classical systems cannot always provide.
Oracle has already announced a preliminary version of its quantum service, which will be available in the coming months. Developers will gain access to tools for building applications directly in the familiar cloud environment, using open code libraries. This lowers the entry barrier for companies that want to experiment with quantum algorithms but do not have their own hardware.
Integration into OCI means that businesses will be able to rent quantum resources on a subscription basis, avoiding capital expenditures on purchasing and maintaining complex installations. In my opinion, this is exactly the step that brings the quantum era closer to the real market: accessibility has always been the main barrier, and now it is gradually disappearing.
Earlier, in May, Saudi Aramco, together with Pasqal, launched the first quantum computer in Saudi Arabia, confirming the global trend toward the commercialization of this technology. The Quantinuum and Oracle partnership is further evidence that quantum computing is ceasing to be a laboratory curiosity and is becoming a tool for business.
My conclusion: the hybrid approach is not just a trendy concept but the only realistic path to the practical use of quantum systems in the coming years. Classical and quantum computing will coexist, complementing each other, and those who start integration now will gain a significant competitive advantage.
