The Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global, one of the world's largest sovereign investors, has officially confirmed its ownership of a stake in BitMine Immersion Technologies. According to my analysis of the fund's reporting, as of June 30, its portfolio included 6.15 million shares of this mining operator, equivalent to approximately $81.87 million.

Notably, BitMine did not appear at all in the previous report for the end of 2025. This means the position was established relatively recently, although the exact entry date and average purchase price are not disclosed in the documents. Such a move by a state investor with a conservative risk profile looks extremely telling.

BitMine itself continues to expand its capacity. Currently, the company manages 5.805 million ETH, which at current market prices is valued at $9.4 billion. For comparison, this is comparable to the assets of an average-sized crypto fund, highlighting the scale of the operator.

From my expert perspective, the appearance of sovereign capital in the capital of miners is not just a financial transaction but a strategic signal. Norway, traditionally distancing itself from high-risk assets, is effectively legitimizing the infrastructure segment of the industry. Given that mining is becoming increasingly energy-efficient and regulated, I expect other institutional investors to follow suit, viewing bitcoin mining as an analogue of investments in traditional commodity assets.
