Mining operator HIVE Digital has announced the signing of a five-year agreement worth $350 million with an anonymous "investment-grade corporate client." This is a landmark event for a sector where traditional Bitcoin miners are increasingly diversifying their business toward high-performance computing (HPC) and infrastructure for artificial intelligence.

Under the deal, the BUZZ HPC division will deploy 2,016 Nvidia Blackwell Ultra GPUs at a facility in British Columbia, Canada. The contract is expected to generate approximately $70 million in annual revenue for the company, significantly strengthening its financial performance. This is already the second major AI contract for HIVE in the past two months, underscoring the company's strategic pivot from pure cryptocurrency mining to a hybrid model.

Importantly, HIVE continues to hold its position in the Bitcoin sector: its current hash rate stands at 24.5 EH/s, the seventh-largest figure among public miners. Thus, the company balances between two directions, mitigating risks associated with crypto market volatility while capitalizing on the AI infrastructure boom.

Market Analysis and Outlook

Such deals reflect a global trend: major miners with access to cheap electricity and capacity are becoming key players in cloud computing. For HIVE, this contract is not just a source of revenue but a strategic step toward long-term sustainability. Amid the halving and rising mining difficulty, such agreements provide a stable cash flow that can subsidize operational expenses.

However, it is worth noting that dependence on a single client and specific hardware (Nvidia) carries certain risks, including potential supply delays or shifts in market conditions. Nevertheless, I view this move as timely and forward-looking—it demonstrates how the industry is adapting to new realities, transforming from a narrowly specialized niche into a multidisciplinary technology sector.
