The past week proved notable for the strategy of the company Strategy, which is traditionally associated with the aggressive accumulation of the first cryptocurrency. Contrary to market expectations, the issuer did not make a single bitcoin transaction, focusing instead on strengthening its fiat liquidity. This is the first such case in a long time, and it deserves close attention.

Capital Movement Details

As part of its capital-raising program, Strategy sold 3.46 million shares of Class MSTR common stock, netting $333.7 million. However, these funds were not directed toward purchasing digital gold, as had been the case previously. Instead, the company decided to restructure its liabilities and increase its dollar reserve.

Of the amount received, $149.1 million was transferred to a dollar accumulation pool, bringing the total fiat reserve to an impressive $4.8 billion. In parallel, $52.4 million went toward dividend payments on STRC preferred shares, while another $132.2 million was spent on the buyback of these same securities. Such a move indicates management's desire to optimize the capital structure and reduce pressure on shareholder equity.

Balance Sheet and Unrealized Losses

Despite the pause in purchases, the volume of the bitcoin reserve remains unchanged at 840,447 BTC. The average acquisition price of each asset is fixed at $75,385. At current market quotes, this forms a "paper" loss on the cryptocurrency portion of the portfolio, estimated at approximately $10 billion.

This dynamic demonstrates a shift in priorities: instead of expanding a volatile asset, the company is consolidating liquidity. This is likely a signal of preparation for a larger deal or hedging against market risks ahead of a possible correction. However, maintaining such a significant unrealized loss suggests that management is still making a long-term bet on bitcoin, viewing the current drawdown as a temporary phenomenon.

My analysis: The strategy of building a fiat cushion before a potential market reversal looks rational, especially amid macroeconomic uncertainty. However, investors should closely monitor the company's actions: if the pause drags on, it could indicate a shift in the fundamental view on bitcoin, which would be a more significant signal than any quarterly reports.
