The cryptocurrency market is once again showing sensitivity to political signals: Hyperliquid's native token, HYPE, has gained about 20% over the past day, jumping from around $62 to $72.28. The catalyst for the growth was a loud statement by U.S. President Donald Trump that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is already actively working on a mechanism for Hyperliquid's legal entry into the American market.

In his speech, Trump emphasized that CFTC Chairman Michael Selig is personally overseeing this process, guaranteeing the platform's launch "in full compliance with the law." This statement instantly stirred traders, who perceived it as a signal of institutional recognition for decentralized platforms in the U.S.

Institutional breakthrough or political announcement?

It is important to note that neither the CFTC itself nor the Hyperliquid team has yet disclosed a specific action plan or even preliminary timelines for market entry. Nevertheless, the very fact of the project being mentioned at the highest political level is already a precedent that could change the rules of the game for the entire decentralized exchange industry.

Such HYPE dynamics reflect a broader trend: the market is increasingly reacting to regulatory initiatives rather than just technical upgrades. Given that Hyperliquid is positioned as one of the most high-performance platforms in the perpetual contracts segment, its legal entry into the U.S. could become a trigger for a revaluation of the entire sector.

My view: HYPE's 20% rise is just the tip of the iceberg. If the CFTC actually approves the launch, we could see an influx of institutional liquidity that would strengthen Hyperliquid's position as a key bridge between DeFi and traditional finance. However, without official documents, the current surge is more speculative in nature—and here it is important to remain cautious, not succumbing to euphoria.
