The native token of the Hyperliquid protocol, HYPE, has demonstrated a confident upward momentum, rising by approximately 20% within a day. The key catalyst for the move was an announcement related to the potential legal launch of the platform in the United States. At one point, the asset bounced off the level around $62 and reached a local high near $72.28.

At the center of market attention was a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump that the Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Michael Selig, is actively working on the issue of Hyperliquid entering the American market "in full compliance with current legislation." This statement instantly fueled investor interest, who perceived it as a signal of a softening regulatory stance toward decentralized platforms.

Regulatory uncertainty persists

Despite the optimistic rhetoric, neither the Commission itself nor the Hyperliquid team has presented an official action plan or specific launch timelines. Thus, the current rise in HYPE is largely speculative in nature, reflecting market expectations rather than an accomplished fact.

Nevertheless, even the very fact of a public mention of the CFTC in the context of Hyperliquid is a landmark event. For an industry that has long balanced on the brink of a legal vacuum, such signals could become a starting point for forming a clearer regulatory framework.

My comment: The market tends to overestimate political statements, but in this case, we are seeing not just PR, but a real shift in the discourse of American authorities around decentralized exchanges. If Hyperliquid actually receives CFTC approval, it would create a precedent that could reshape the competitive landscape of the entire DEX sector. But until an official document appears, the current rise in HYPE will remain vulnerable to a correction.
