Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs record their highest inflows since October: $2.6 billion in a week
American spot exchange-traded funds for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have demonstrated the strongest weekly capital inflow since October 2025. During the period from August 17 to 21, investors poured $2.6 billion into these instruments, signaling the return of institutional confidence in the crypto market.
Record figures and a trend shift
Bitcoin ETFs became the main growth driver, attracting $1.92 billion over five consecutive trading sessions. August 20 stands out in particular, when $606 million flowed into the funds in a single day — the highest result since May. At the same time, trading volume soared to $22.15 billion for the week, nearly three times higher than the previous period's figures.
Ethereum funds also showed impressive momentum, receiving $697.18 million and fully offsetting the outflow of $391.96 million recorded a week earlier. The best day for ETH ETFs came on August 20 with an inflow of $220.77 million — a record since October. However, it is worth noting that the total assets under management of these funds remain 53% below the peak values of August 2025.
Analysis: asset growth vs. capital inflow
The key point I highlight in this data is the significant divergence between capital inflows and the growth in asset value. Over the week, the assets of both ETF categories appreciated by approximately $23 billion, while investors contributed only $2.6 billion. This means that the main growth factor was the revaluation of the coins themselves, not new investments.
Excluding inflows, the value of Bitcoin funds rose by 22.9%, and Ethereum funds by 29.2%. Most of this increase occurred over three trading days from August 19 to 21. At the time of publication, Bitcoin was trading around $76,230, and Ethereum at $2,406.
Altcoin ETFs: diversification gains momentum
Interest in crypto ETFs extends beyond the two largest coins. XRP funds lead among altcoins with an inflow of $39.78 million and a record weekly trading volume of $271.74 million. Solana (SOL) products secured second place with $28.34 million, showing positive momentum for the eighth consecutive week.
Chainlink (LINK) funds attracted $13.35 million — the second-best result since their launch in December 2025. Hyperliquid (HYPE) ETFs received $3.89 million, with their total asset value reaching a record $360.39 million. Dogecoin (DOGE) funds round out the list with $654,416.
My professional perspective: the current dynamics point to a structural shift in institutional sentiment, but caution remains. Inflows into altcoin ETFs, especially XRP and SOL, indicate a diversification of strategies, yet the overall asset volume is still far from historical highs. The market is clearly preparing for a new phase of growth, but the sustainability of this trend will be tested in the coming weeks.
