Last week, BitMine made a major deal in the Ethereum market, acquiring 32,447 ETH. This allowed the company to grow its reserves to an impressive 5.85 million coins, equivalent to approximately 4.8% of the entire circulating supply of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Such a move demonstrates the institutional player's confidence in the asset's long-term potential, despite market volatility.

Staking as a Key Driver of Yield

A significant portion of the accumulated funds — 5.07 million ETH, or about 87% of the total reserve volume — was locked in staking. This approach brings the company a steady passive income: by my estimates, the annual profit from validating transactions on the Ethereum network could reach $330 million. This not only strengthens BitMine's financial cushion but also contributes to the overall security of the network, increasing the level of decentralization.

As of August 23, the company's total asset value, including cryptocurrencies, fiat funds, securities, and other investments, amounted to $14.9 billion. Thus, Ethereum's share in BitMine's portfolio remains dominant, highlighting the strategic focus on the smart contract ecosystem.

Observing these actions, I see a clear signal for the market: large holders are not just maintaining positions but actively increasing them, using staking as a tool to extract benefits even during periods of uncertainty. If this dynamic persists, it could put additional pressure on ETH liquidity on exchanges, which in the medium term could support the asset's price.
