A major institutional player in the crypto asset market continues to aggressively accumulate the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Over the past seven days, BitMine has increased its Ethereum portfolio by 32,447 ETH, bringing total reserves to an impressive 5.85 million ETH. This is equivalent to approximately 4.8% of the entire circulating supply of Ethereum — a figure that underscores the growing concentration of the asset in the hands of large corporate structures.

Staking as a Key Driver of Yield

Particular attention deserves the company's strategy regarding locked coins. BitMine has staked 5.07 million ETH, which accounts for about 87% of its total holdings. This approach demonstrates confidence in the network's long-term potential and a desire to generate passive income from validation. By my estimates, the expected annual income from staking reaches $330 million — this is a significant cash flow that could be reinvested into further portfolio expansion.

As of August 23, the total value of BitMine's crypto assets, fiat reserves, securities, and other investments amounted to $14.9 billion. Such diversification allows the company to balance risks, yet the dominance of ETH in the asset structure indicates a clear "bullish" sentiment toward ether.

From my perspective, BitMine's activity of this kind is not merely a speculative maneuver, but a strategic bet on the institutional adoption of Ethereum and the growth of its role in decentralized finance. If the trend continues, we may see further pressure on ETH liquidity on exchanges, which could potentially create the groundwork for a price rally in the medium term. However, investors should keep in mind the volatility and high concentration of risk at such levels of accumulation.
