Major institutional player BitMine continues to aggressively expand its Ethereum holdings. Over the past seven days, the company acquired 32,447 ETH, bringing its total reserves to an impressive 5.85 million coins. This is equivalent to approximately 4.8% of the entire circulating supply of ether—a figure that underscores the growing concentration of the asset in the hands of large corporate entities.

Particularly noteworthy is the strategy for managing these assets. BitMine has staked 5.07 million ETH, accounting for about 87% of its total reserves. This approach signals long-term confidence in the Ethereum network and a desire to generate passive income from its positions. The expected annual yield from locking up these coins is estimated at $330 million—a substantial cash flow that strengthens the company's financial stability.

As of August 23, BitMine's aggregate balance, including crypto assets, cash, securities, and other investments, reached $14.9 billion. This highlights that the company is diversifying its investments, but Ethereum remains the core of its portfolio.

Analytical Perspective

BitMine's actions here are not merely an asset purchase but a systemic bet on staking infrastructure. In an environment where yields from traditional instruments remain volatile, ETH is becoming a corporate equivalent of a "digital bond" with high liquidity. However, the concentration of 4.8% of the supply in a single entity's hands also creates certain risks for network decentralization, which should be considered in long-term market forecasting. In my view, if this accumulation trend continues, we could see growing institutional pressure on ether's price in the medium term.
