Stablecoin neobank Fasset has closed a Series C funding round of $68 million, led by Japanese financial group SBI Group. This deal has become a landmark event for the market: the company's valuation has reached $1 billion, automatically placing it in the "unicorn" category among digital financial platforms.
The raised capital will be directed toward the accelerated development of Own Network infrastructure and the implementation of AI systems to optimize cross-border settlements. Special emphasis is placed on "stablecoins" and tokenized assets—segments that are currently showing explosive growth in interest from institutional investors.
Context and Strategy
Notably, this is already the second major tranche for Fasset in recent months. In May, the project raised $51 million, and now the total funding for 2026 has reached $119 million. Such momentum indicates high investor confidence in the company's business model, which positions itself as a bridge between traditional finance and decentralized assets.
The choice of SBI Group as the round's leader is no coincidence: the Japanese giant is actively investing in blockchain solutions and payment innovations, seeing strategic potential in them for the Asian market. Support from such a player adds not only capital to Fasset but also operational expertise for scaling in strictly regulated jurisdictions.
My assessment: Fasset's success is yet another confirmation of the trend toward the convergence of AI and blockchain in the financial sector. However, amid growing competition from major banks and fintech giants, the key test for the company will not be raising funds, but the ability to demonstrate real profitability and compliance with regulatory requirements on a global scale. The $1 billion valuation is an advance that will need to be justified.
